Snow storm.

Last night we had a crappy snow storm. It was mostly a freezing rain and wild wind storm. The clickity-clickity sound on the window was really neat! and fun! when the storm started the night before. Last night when I went to bed I told the freezing rain to fuck off and go to hell. I was a little testy because the storm was pretty scary. Early on, around 7:00pm there was a huge bolt of lightning that felt like it was right on top of us followed by extremely loud rumbling thunder. The lake was hitting the wall pretty hard consistently for hours which was shaking the whole house. Many of the waves would hit the wall, shoot up in the air and the spray would splatter across the window on the second floor. Upstairs. I was very uncomfortable and pretty nervous about the damage we may be sustaining.

Turns out we did have some leaking in the new family room. The "patio" area, which I think is an old driveway from before we lived here, is what I think is the problem. The "patio" is butted up against the wall of the family room so when there is lots of water, which we've had in the last couple of days, there is no where for it to go but sit, wait to evaporate and find it's way into the room. We'll need to find a way to seal that up and I think we've decided that we'll need to cut out the asphalt and put in a lot of drainage to prevent this from happening again. Other than the cost of it, I won't mind pulling out the asphalt because no "patio" should be made of asphalt. It's been a sad and stressful day because that room was built last summer. I don't have anything else to say about that.
